Female coaches deployed on MRT Putrajaya Line, starting today – pink markings on platforms and on trains

Rapid KL is deploying female coaches on the route Putrajaya metro line starting today, April 8. Women-only trainers marked in pink are was introduced on the Kajang MRT line last year. Rapid KL said the women-only trainers have been successfully deployed in places like New Delhi, Jakarta, Rio de Janeiro and Mexico City, among other major cities.

For those unfamiliar with the women’s car, it is located in the middle of the train – the number two and three car sections with four doors. Platforms, platform doors and areas reserved for women on the train are clearly marked in pink.

With that clear, who will be welcomed in pink cars? Obviously women of all ages, but Rapid KL states that boys under 12 accompanied by a female guardian are also allowed in. For couples and groups, ladies can ride normally with a male companion, who is not allowed to sit in the female vehicle – otherwise the couple/group may separate.
