British middleweight Felix Cash hopes to hit the world stage in his next bout.
The undefeated 29-year-old will make his second start of 2022 on July 9 and while he is desperate for a shot at the European title, he says Andi Purewal of Boxing Social The time is right to go a step further than that.
“It’s still the one I want (Europe) but it’s all about timing. Now that I am ready to step up to the world level, a world level opponent will put me in a position to make me known in the world arena. ”
Last time Cash beat Russia’s banana skin Magomed Madiev and Brit slipped up twice after being dropped in the second and tenth innings. And despite the one point deduction in the final lap, 160lbs contender Eddie Hearn did enough to claim the WBC International Middleweight belt.
Currently Cash is ranked highest with WBO (7), behind Chris Eubank Jr.
“I wanted to take a chance with Chris Eubank Jr. I love that fight‘ said Cash.
“I’ve done a lot of rounds, I know it’s been a while, with Chris Eubank Jr and I know I’ve got his number. I would love to have that fight. I feel like I’ve been at the top in the sparse games, so I’d love to go into a round with him with the little gloves on and do it the right way. “
Cash admits that Eubank Jr has improved since then, but Chris Sr’s son needs an opponent for his next bout after potential nemesis Kell Brook retired and Gennadiy Golovkin signed Canelo Alvarez on September.
Most recent outing, Eubank Jr got into a grudge match with Liam Williams in Cardiff. The fight itself proved to be an all-around victory for the Englishman, who beat his Welsh opponent four times to claim 32nd victory in his career.
Cash said: “It was a good win, he looked good, but Williams was not so good.
“He went down with jabs, so he didn’t look his best. Not his night. ”
