More details on Trump campaign’s FEC complaint

According to CNN, Donald Trump’s team filed a complaint with the FEC on Tuesday, July 23. The complaint reportedly asserts that funds raised for President Biden’s re-election campaign cannot be transferred to Harris.

According to CNN, the complaint states: “Kamala Harris is attempting to commit the theft of $91.5 million from the remaining funds of Joe Biden’s campaign — a brazen money heist that could constitute the largest excess contribution and the largest violation in the history of the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971, as amended.”

Furthermore, the complaint allegedly alleges that Biden and Harris filed “fraudulent forms with the Commission for the purpose of transferring the use of one candidate’s primary campaign committee to another candidate.”

“Kamala Harris is a candidate for something in 2024, federal law requires her to file a Statement of Candidacy and her name must appear in the name of her authorized committee. But Kamala Harris’ name does not appear in the name of her supposedly authorized committee, ‘Biden for President,’ and as of Sunday, no Statement of Candidacy exists for her,” the complaint added, according to Fox News. “Then, on Sunday, instead of filing her own Statement of Candidacy, she simply changed Joe Biden’s name to replace his with hers. There is no mechanism under the Act for an individual to terminate another person’s federal candidacy simply by amending the other person’s Form 2… Altering a document submitted to a federal agency is a violation of 18 USC § 1519.3.”

Harris campaign responds as social media weighs in

Charles Kretchmer Lutvak, a spokesman for Harris’ campaign, responded to the lawsuit on Tuesday, according to the source.

“Republicans may be jealous that Democrats are energized to defeat Donald Trump and his MAGA allies, but baseless legal claims — like the ones they’ve been making for years to try to suppress votes and steal the election — will only distract them from the work we do to register volunteers, talk to voters, and win this election,” Lutvak reportedly explained.

Meanwhile, social media users’ reactions also flooded the comments section of The Shade Room.

How much money has Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign raised so far?

CNN reported that an FEC spokesperson declined to comment on the matter. Furthermore, the outlet added that Harris’s spokesperson, Lutvak, boasted that the vice president’s campaign “raised $100 million in the first 36 hours and recruited 58,000 volunteers.”

On Wednesday, July 24, USA Today published a report claiming that Harris’ campaign had raised at least $126 million.
