FanDuel Picks Week 13: NFL DFS roster tips for daily fantasy football GPP tournaments

As the season comes to an end and injuries mount, it’s time for us to dive deep into our DFS tank for a juice that will get us through the final third of the 2021 campaign. Even though we’re not steeping all of it. Powering the “next men” in these traumatic situations, our FanDuel Week 13 tournament lineup takes advantage of a few boys who could land in higher-ups. As always, we’re putting our fair share of boom or bust options in line with GPP tournaments.

Before we get into this week’s lineup, here are the ground rules for FanDuel competitions. Grading is pretty standard, with the only notable settings being TDs pass four points and Half point PPR.

FanDuel Picks Week 13: NFL DFS lineups for GPP tournaments

Main Sunday, $60,000 budget, no more than four players from a team

QB Tom Brady, Buccaneers @ Falcons ($8,100). While Brady has had a few ho-hum performances over the past few weeks, we don’t need a cute or smart excuse to include him in this lineup. Brady has scored at least 27.0 FanDuel points five times this season, and the Falcons have one of the worst defenses in the league.

RB Alexander Mattison, Vikings @ Lions ($8,700). Mattison will be among the best plays on Sunday, but we’ll accept that in this case. In two games with at least 20 rushes, Mattison averaged 21.5 FD points. Expected for the lead role following Dalvin Cook’s shoulder injury, Mattison is heavily betting to break the 20-point barrier once again.

WEEK 13 USING DFS: DraftKings | Yahoo!

RB Antonio Gibson, Washington @ Raiders ($6,200). Gibson handled 36 career highs in the Soccer Team’s win over the Seahawks on Monday night. It’s his third game in a row that’s attracted an insane amount of healthy work, something that will continue this week on the road in Las Vegas. Gibson ceded a pair of points to J.D. McKissic last week, but with so much volume, it’s fair to expect encounters to start flowing again.

WR Diontae Johnson, Steelers vs. Ravens ($7,200). Johnson continued to draw huge target numbers like the hands of a clock. His last 14 weeks marked a top-flight season, and he has received 13 plus points in five of his past six games. We’re not in the habit of picking Ravens, but when choosing between a target pig and a tough defense, we’ll usually go first.

WEEK 13 PPR RANKING:
Midfielder | Run back | Wide receiver | Tight ending | VND / ST | Kicker

WR Darnell Mooney, Bears vs. Cardinals ($6,700). Mooney took over as the Bears’ primary recipient, a trend that was kicked off even before Allen Robinson missed a few competitions due to a hamstring injury. Mooney has hit a total of 30 goals in the past three games and scored at least 15.0 FD points in each contest during that time period. The Bears have also started using him in designed receiver runs, giving him another chance to deal damage to the opposition.

WR Brandon Aiyuk, 49ers @ Seahawks ($7,000). Aiyuk will have a chance to fill a bigger role in the offense with Deebo Samuel sidelined for at least Week 13 with a groin injury. Aiyuk has been slowly putting a tough start to the season behind him, scoring double-digit FDs in his past three-quarters of the game. While he’s not a smasher like Samuel, Aiyuk’s versatility will allow him to deal damage on similar quick pass patterns and a receiver designed to run should Kyle Shanahan decide to spin number of them.

WEEK 13 STANDARD RANKING:
Midfielder | Run back | Wide receiver | Tight ending | VND / ST | Kicker

TE Jared Cook, Chargers @ Bengals ($5,100). The last position is in dire straits right now, and the opportunity cost of strengthening a “trusted” position this week is high. Cook has been nothing special this season, but he is still a respectable threat in the red zone and the Bengals have been generous to the end. We’re taking a thrifty approach this week, taking advantage of the inexpensive Cook offers at this point.

FLEX Odell Beckham Jr., Rams vs Jaguars ($6,000). After struggling – understandably – to get Beckham up and running in his first game against the Rams, Sean McVay and Matthew Stafford enjoyed more success after the goodbyes. Beckham has turned 10 goals into 16.6 FD points and more hits will allow for more worthwhile performances in the future. The Rams have dropped three games in a row and will be hungry for a victory over the lowly Jaguars.

DEF Rams vs Jaguars ($4,900). Speaking of those lowly Jags, they offer the best chance for the talented and ineffective Rams defense to come in. The goodbye should have given them a chance to clean up some of the issues that had left them gasping for breath in recent weeks. Not to mention, Jalen Ramsey will be selected for a pick of six. (Purchase of the Ramsey revenge narrative is optional.)
