In two truths and one lie in the first episode, Carly claims her famous relative is her uncle. She says he’s an Oscar-winning musician but reveals in front of the camera that he’s actually one of the biggest actors in Hollywood. When the contestants saw the wall of clues, she immediately tensed up because of the series of clues related to her. The other contestants point to a green bench reminiscent of “Forrest Gump” and wonder if someone is involved.

At the end of the episode, contestant Hugo guessed that Carly’s uncle was Hanks, and he was right! Carly immediately started crying, even though she raved about her famous uncle. “He was always there for me, not only was he kind, but he was also very funny and intelligent,” she said. “Everything you hear about Tom is true. He’s the best guy in Hollywood.”
But when she returned home to pack up, Carly yelled that it wasn’t fair because her clues were “too obvious”. “Why bench?! Why bench?!” she shouted. “There’s really no mention of benches in any other movie!”
Carly, whose full name is Carly Reeves, told USA Today that she was technically Hanks’ niece when she got married. Her mother is the sister of Rita Wilson, Hanks’ wife. Previously, Carly appeared in two of her uncle’s films, “Charlie Wilson’s War” in 2007 and “Larry Crowne” in 2011.
In her interview, Carly said she signed up for “The Claim to Fame” herself, and explained: “I absolutely thought it would be a great exposure, even if people just knew I’ve always wanted to stay out of his attention, but now I’m like, “Well, I guess we’re doing this. We are sharing [it] to the world.'” She told the outlet that Hanks and Wilson and her cousins Colin and Chet were “really happy” that she was on the show.
