Family dogs almost sacrificed their lives to protect 2 toddlers from venomous snakes
Dogs may be the most selfless creatures on Earth, and this story proves that they take a bullet for those they love – or in this case, a snake bite.
Pups Slayer and Paco, who belong to Melissa Butt, are in their Florida backyard with Butt’s two nieces, four and one.
According to Butt, the dogs were suddenly drawn to something in the grass, and refused to be called, which was unusual, according to Butt.
As it turned out, they had found a venomous snake, possibly a copperhead, and were keeping the deadly snake away from the children. Paco was bitten on the leg, fortunately only slightly injured.
But Slayer suffered life-threatening injuries after being stabbed in the face, receiving bruises from the venom and resulting severe swelling.
The fate of the 3-year-old Pit Bull was uncertain for a few days, but after emergency treatment and a massive dose of antivenin, Slayer made it through, to save his humans! Understandably, the family is delighted and relieved that both the puppy and grandchild are unharmed.
After visiting with their recovering dog at the vet, Butt said in a story of Fox 13:
“We got to meet him and let him know we weren’t abandoning him. He’s still ours. We will get him home as soon as we can… Everything will be fine… He will look back on this and say, “I can only make more friends”.
Slayer has certainly lived up to his name… as a snake killer, It’s a! His family can’t wait to bring him back home, where he will surely be rewarded for his bravery.
Melissa Butt updated iHeartDogs with even better news about the four-legged hero:
“We were able to bring Slayer home yesterday and he is very happy, of course we are too. He is resting in his favorite place receiving lots of love and cuddles. Some of the edema has subsided and he can eat and drink, even seems to have a slight appetite
. “
We’re so glad this story has a happy ending for everyone and that these two dogs will continue to receive the love and care they deserve!
