Expedition Agartha will soon go into early access. Published by Snail Games under the label Wandering Wizard, the game was developed by Matrioshka Games as a “survival game with heavy shooters” aimed at multiplayer. PC Early Access Release Date (via Steam) is set for August 18, 2022.

Although still in active development, Expedition Agartha there is a story premise to draw players in. Its setting is a mysterious island located on the legendary Lost Continent of Mu. There the player will launch expeditions into Agartha, a mystical land in the center of the earth. They will explore alone or in groups of three. Along the way, they will face NPCs and hostile environments in search of secrets and treasures. They will then need to make their way to the departure point to go safely with their loot. This is in contrast to battle royal style titles like Apex Legendsusually ends a round after a team has won.
Expedition Agartha was inspired by other “mining style” survival games such as Escape from Tarkov and GTFO. These games place players in an unforgiving environment and challenge them to enter and exit alive, adding to the sense of risk and reward. However, unlike its inspiration, Expedition Agartha is a medieval fantasy style game and its developers plan to use first person melee combat style.
The early access period for the game is expected to last one to two years. The game will start in early access with three playable maps, with five or more planned for full release. Each update brings players closer to Agartha.
