Ex-cop’s offer says he was joking when he told Biden ‘Let’s Go Brandon’: NPR

An Oregon man repeated an insulting catchphrase during a Christmas Eve call with President Joe Biden saying he was just joking.
“I have nothing against Mr. Biden, but I’m disappointed because I think he could have done a better job,” said former police officer Jared Schmeck. Oregonians. “I mean no disrespect to him.”
The phone call began cordially. Schmeck, 35, called his follower NORAD Santa like he does every Christmas Eve. Usually, the call is automated. This year, the president and First Lady Jill Biden took the call together.
For a few minutes, everything was pleasant. “I assume you’re a father,” the president said. “What do you want for Christmas?”
Schmeck laughed. “Probably a quiet night.”
“Very lucky, father!” Biden replied.
The President asked Schmeck what his children wanted for Christmas. The First Lady merged nostalgia for the Barbie doll she used to have as a child. The first couple then began to end the call amicably.
To make sure Santa shows up, “you guys have to go to bed by nine o’clock!” the president said, adding: “I hope you have a wonderful Christmas”
That’s when Schmeck, speaking to the leader of the free world, made a catchphrase that applies in conservative circles, and when translated, means “”[expletive] Joe Biden.”
“Yes, I hope you have a wonderful Christmas too,” Schmeck said. “Merry Christmas and let’s go Brandon.”
Biden strode remarks. “Come on Brandon, I agree,” he said. “Hey, by the way, are you in Oregon? Where’s your home?”
Schmeck didn’t answer – he then said he was disconnected.
Schmeck posted a videotapes in a YouTube phone call, with the hashtag # #letsgobrandon.
Facing outcry on social media, Schmeck told The Oregonian it was a “joke” and that he was just venting his frustrations about Biden’s policies, supply chain issues and the vaccine mandate. ask for. “And now I’m being attacked for abusing my freedom of speech,” he said.
“I understand that ‘Let’s go Brandon’ has some vulgar connotation, but I’m not that simple-minded, no matter how I feel about him,” Schmeck said. “He seems to like him being a friendly guy.
