EVO Japan will return in the spring of 2023 after a hiatus caused by the pandemic. General manager of the event Rick Thiher confirmed that EVO Japan 2023 will take place in Tokyo from late March to early April 2023. The team also updated the Japanese events. Four titles will feature prominently at EVO Japan 2023 as main tournaments. They will be Arc System Works’ Guilty Gear StriveSNK’s King of Fighters XVCapcom’s Street Fighter V: Champion Editionand Bandai Namco’s Tekken 7. Organizers will reveal more roster titles and tournament registration details in Fall 2022.
EVO Japan is the first event in the Evolution Championship Series to appear outside of the United States. The inaugural event started in January 2018. The organizers held this event every year in 2019 and Year 2020but it was paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Just like the original American event, the developers of featured games often release new information in the middle of tournaments. For example, the 2020 release sees a new playable character revealed for SoulCalibur VI and Samurai Shodownas well as update new features for Tekken 7.
EVO Japan 2023 will take place at Tokyo Big Sight from March 31 to April 2, 2023.
