Everything you need to know about smart previews in Lightroom
Modern image files can be large and quite complicated to work with, but Lightroom has a neat feature that makes things easier and more flexible: Smart Previews. This great video tutorial will show you the details of Smart Previews, including why they are used and how to leverage them for your own work.
Coming to you from Anthony MorgantiThis awesome video tutorial will show you everything you need to know about Smart Preview in Lightroom. Smart preview lets you edit photos even when the actual files aren’t available on your computer. They tend to be much smaller than the originals, usually in the order of about 95% reduction in size. This allows you to keep all your pictures on a large traditional hard drive and bring a small, fast SSD to work with on the go. When you reconnect the drive containing the Smart Preview to your computer, Lightroom automatically syncs all the changes you’ve made and applies them to the original. They’re a great way to work, especially if you’re someone who works away from home a lot and doesn’t want to carry around a large hard drive. Watch the video above for a full rundown from Morganti.
