Although Errol Spence will defend his multiple world championships when facing conqueror Manny Pacquiao Yordenis Ugas on April 16, people are still curious to know if he plans to take on the man WBO Terence Crawford racquet in divisional superfight or not. “I’m trying to finish that fight,” the 32-year-old Texan said after a media workout this week, via FightHype, “But right now the only way it can be done is if I defeat Ugas.” In other words, Spence has a challenge ahead of him that demands his attention. “After that (the fight with Ugas), we can discuss Terence Crawford,” he said.

There’s little doubt that Spence looks great going into battle with Ugas. The man trained hard and it showed. According to Spence, he is now a man who knows how to cherish the moment in front of him. “Not every day is promised,” he assured the media. “When you’re young, you think you’re invincible.” A Dallas area native was involved in a horrific auto accident a few years ago, one in which he survived remarkably. While he doesn’t appear to be wearing any worse, the incident has left some wondering if Spence will ever be able to return to the ring. Although Spence won the comeback match – against Danny Garcia – with ease – Ugas represented an entirely different set of challenges.

A lean, experienced and skilful fighter, Ugas has come through the tough times, and is now enjoying the fruits of his surprise victory over Pacquiao in August. The man’s chance to step into the ring. not being fully prepared to face Spence for several weeks is very minor and nonexistent. Moreover, the skillful Cuban will fly high after the victory over Pacquiao. Judging only by his preparation, however, Spence seems to be taking the moment himself seriously, lest he be annoyed by Ugas the way Pacquiao did last summer.

Besides, the battle between Spence and Ugas is taking place actively at AT&T Stadium, Spence’s home ground. Spence told the media: “It’s special to be fighting at home. “It’s going to be a great night.” It will certainly be for Spence if he wins. However, Ugas clearly had other plans. He damaged the apple cart when he beat Pacquiao. Can Ugas do it again with Spence? Not if Spence has his way. And Spence has never failed to get his way in the ring.
