England reach women’s Euro quarterfinals with record win over Norway | UK News

England have progressed to the quarter-finals of the Women’s Euro after beating Norway 8-0.

The Lionesses’ impressive win also set a new record for the highest win percentage in the history of women’s European Championship finals, beating their own record set in 2017 when they beat Scotland with the score 6-0.

England scored six of their seven goals in the first half of the game at Brighton’s Amex Stadium, with the final goal coming in the 81st minute by Arsenal’s Beth Mead, helping her score a hat- trick.

“I can’t put it into words… I loved being a part of this team and loved every minute of it,” Mead said after the game.

When asked about her hat-trick, she added: “I don’t think I even dreamed of this – I’m very happy to be able to score for the team again.

“Unbelievable night. The girls need to enjoy this, we need to enjoy the moments and this is one of the best.”

Manchester United’s Alessia Russo also had personal reasons to celebrate after scoring her first goal at a major tournament.
