Enduro Classic Cup 2022
Competitive off-road racing hard on equipment and harder on your body — a young man’s sport at the end of the day. But what will happen to the heroes of the years gone by when their joints and trusty steeds have suffered a bit of decay?
Like the pinnacle of a two-stroke, a player’s heart is never too old to feel young again. And both see the thrill of competition each year, at the Enduro Vintage Trophy event.
Once part of the International Six Days Enduro, the Vintage Trophy is now an independent race, honoring the rich global history of enduro motor racing. The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) sets strict rules for entry, requiring that the core parts of the bike be authentic antiques and that the picturesque town of Santiago do Cacém, Portugal, has hosting the event in 2022.
157 cycled enduro machines and their nostalgia-driven pilots were drawn to the event from 12 different countries, many driving thousands of miles for an epic ride in the saddle. Some are former champions in their 60s and others are just hardcore vintage enthusiasts, but they’re all there for the entertainment and thrill of seeing the gate come down for a other stage.
The Enduro Vintage Trophy draws on a wide selection of bikes from the sport’s most innovative era, with a backdrop of beautiful countryside, cobblestone streets and a wooded stage. A once-in-a-lifetime equestrian opportunity, the 2021 event to be held on the Italian island of Elba and the 2023 Cup to be held in Spain between the towns of Fontanals de Cerdanya and Alp—scheduled from October 18 to 21.
our friends at London shopping center won’t miss a single vintage iron, and recently gave us an exclusive, first-hand look at all the happenings in Portugal. their short film NEVER END captures the sights and heroes of the Enduro Vintage Trophy, and is sure to evoke fond memories of the two-stroke smoke.
A surefire source of inspiration for getting out and cranking the throttle, here’s our latest pick for you to watch over the weekend of need.
