In his first attempt at 1 1/8 mile, this horse fought impromptu at Remsen Stakes (G2) only to lose his breath first. Mo Donegal when finished. In front of these eyes, he was guaranteed to be promoted to first class by late collision – even though the managers saw it differently and unchanged.

Speaking to HRRN, McPeek called him a “strangely talented horse,” an opinion shared by many who witnessed his two bouts. He opened his eyes for the first time with his first impressive first win at Keenelandwhich he followed with a walk in the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (G2) at Churchill Downs. Carried with talented 3-year-olds and understandably didn’t want to run them all together, McPeek pointed this out to the Resurrection Star, which is being conceived as a slugfest of 3-year-old talent. .

Although he controversially won Remsen – and probably should have been demoted to second for meddling – his performance received high marks. There was very little speed in the race, and he displayed a surprising burst of speed to get to his second turn to rush from a stalking position to catch Zandon in the early stages. That was followed by a maiden victory that was more like a worker (albeit for a quick time), in that he needed to drive early before finding his stride in the lane; possible for Holy Bull Stakes (G3) on Feb. 5 in Gulfstream.

Holy Bull should be a barometer race, letting the observer know how classy he is on the dirt. He is clearly a high-class pony on the pitch, credited by two wins on the pitch and a runner-up finish in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1T). He rolled on the ground last summer at Ellis . Park, which makes one think he can handle it without difficulty, but it’s clearly much easier to do so against maidens than against betting enemies; Promising training on dirt.

As saved In this space before, he’s been keeping an eye on most of the runners in Lecomte, showing determination after carving out quick fractions. However, he was not the type to take the lead. He won’t push for speed when rolling in this winter’s Gun Runner Stakes.

He’s been left a bit empty on his return to Lecomte, perhaps in need of a race or a threatened touch when trying to get over the fence.

Coach Doug O’Neill originally had Los Alamitos Futurity (G2) winner just southwest of the Jan 29 (G3) stake at Oaklawn Park before skipping it, with the coach citing an uncertain flight from California. He told Daily Racing Form that the Easter Star is currently on the pony’s agenda. The Easter Star was the first game of the Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve (G1) on an increased scale of 50-20-10-5; whoever wins is virtually guaranteed a place in Derby.
