Emirates unveils stylish new paint colors


Love looking out of the airport window and admiring the different planes on display? Well, keep an eye out The Emirates‘ new face.

The airline, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has just revealed a new paint color upgrade. It includes a series of tweaks to the design last updated almost a quarter of a century ago.

The new design includes a 3D effect added to the United Arab Emirates flag on the fins, creating a “floating in the wind” look. The red painted wing tips feature a prominent white Emirates logo written in Arabic calligraphy.

The familiar yellow Emirates logo on the fuselage remains the same but has been enlarged (32.5% to be exact). It’s also bolder. According to the Emirates website, the smaller text underneath the plane’s former paint color has been removed.

If you’re in the right place, you could spot the new design in the skies or on the ground as early as March 17. The first plane to get the makeover, the A6-EOE (Airbus A380), took off from Dubai International (DXB) to Munich International Airport (MUC) with flight EK51.

This is the first time Emirates has upgraded its paint job since 1999. The original paint color was introduced with the airline in 1985. It was created by British design firm Negus & Negus – also designed by the airline. known for iconic work with British Airways.

Emirates says it will update 24 aircraft with new paint colors by the end of 2023, with the rest of the fleet following. All new aircraft — from the first Airbus A350, scheduled to launch in August 2024 — will feature a new design from the start.

Emirates President Sir Tim Clark said: “Airplane paint is the most recognizable brand real estate for any airline. It is a representation of our unique identity, which we proudly wear and display in all the cities we fly to around the world. We are refreshing our paintwork to keep it modern without losing sight of key elements of our identity, such as the UAE flag on the caudal fin and the Arabic script.”
