Elvis spent his entire 19 years on Earth bound by the confines of a chain. In his tiny bubble of existence are a bucket of dirty water, a small pan of food, and a stuffy wooden doghouse where he often retreats. The poor dog is in terrible shape.
That is until he is rescued and finally experiences freedom, friends, and love for the last few months of his life.
The poor dog was in poor condition and had a thick, heavy collar dangling from its thin body. Elvis looked up sadly at his rescuers while lowering his head. He appeared to have failed and it was like his spirit had completely collapsed.
His body was full of flies and bleeding bites. The flies were literally eating him alive. He was so thin that every single rib of his was exposed and threatened to puncture his skin.
After 19 long years of only being able to get to the end of the series, he was hesitant to venture out of the tiny bubble he had been in all his life. Despite having trouble getting up on his own and barely having any strength left, he managed to drag himself back to his puppy house.
But his heroic rescuers rescued him from his terrible living conditions and took Elvis to a shelter where he was cared for by a veterinarian and treated to a hearty meal.
“It can’t walk straight. We will teach him. We will try to bring him back to life when he was 19,” explained Takis, the shelter owner and Elvis’ rescuer.
Slowly but surely, Elvis’s hind legs rose higher, and he began to walk better and better. Everyone feels warm to see him make friends with other dogs. Every dog and everyone loves Elvis.
But sadly, Elvis was diagnosed with bowel cancer and had heart problems. Although he was immediately started on treatment, his condition is irreversible.
Not long after, his bowel cancer got worse, and it became clear that he was extremely upset. So the people who saved Elvis decided to do what was best and made the difficult decision to help save him from further pain.
Though it wasn’t long, Elvis has lived his last few months experiencing freedom, friendship, and knowing what it’s like to be loved.
