Electric vehicle and brake dust, Lucid Air recall, Kia EV6 model and charging update: Car News Today
The Lucid Air was recalled because of a wiring problem – but nothing to do with its ace propulsion components. We summarize why we like the EV6 slightly over the Ioniq 5, but why we think both are missing a key piece of technology. And is brake dust emissions from electric vehicles a concern? This and more, here Green Car Report.
We recently did a Review Kia EV6 GT-Line 2022 in some less-than-ideal road conditions. From there, and living with the EV6 and Ioniq 5, we’ve rounded up some of the takeaways about the EV6’s real-world range, chargeability and liveability — and how it feels to the Ioniq 5.
European Union regulators are said to be still working towards introducing limits on brake dust emissions according to the upcoming Euro 7 standard. That’s something that at least one recent study found higher for electric vehicles due to their additional battery mass—yes, despite regen braking and single-pedal driving.
And Lucid Air has been recalled over a harness assembly may result in loss of device control panel functionality. A very small fraction of the vehicles are affected, but all 1,117 electric luxury sedans before May 4 will be subject to inspection.
