New electric car registration figures in Germany are becoming increasingly dire. In May 2024, The Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) reported that they only registered 29,708 vehicles with electric motors.

It is possible that e-vehicle sales in Germany plummeted more than 30% compared to a year earlier Image AI Chat GPT.
That’s a 30.6% decrease compared to results for the same month last year.
CO2 emissions of new German cars also increased by 3.3%…showing that the green transition has stalled and is reversing.

KBA also added that 89,498 passenger cars were equipped with gasoline engines – an increase of 2.1% compared to the same month last year.
44,893 new cars powered by diesel engines, up 3.2% over the same month last year.
71,451 new vehicles using hybrid powertrain in May 2024, accounting for 30.2% (-0.3%), including 14,038 plug-in hybrid vehicles (+1.7%/5.9% ).
According to KBA, the average CO2 emissions when registering new passenger cars increased by +3.3% and reached 124.0 g/km.
