Skin editing takes time, so any plugin that can help speed up the process is a bonus. Infinite Skin is a Photoshop plugin in the Infinite Tools range and is probably the fastest skin retouching plugin I’ve used, producing amazing results in no time.
It’s actually so quick and simple to use that by the time you’ve finished reading this article, I’m assuming you’ve probably edited at least five images using it. It does exactly what it says on the tin and does it very well.
Infinite skin panel
The control panel is simple and very efficient in execution, providing a simple layout for even first-time users. The predefined settings allow for quick results, and the Transparency and Smoothing sliders allow fine adjustments to get the results you want. The three icons below have other functions:
- Blend IF: when selected, it does not apply skin smoothing to the lightest and darkest areas. It creates a mask that allows you to decide later if you want to apply smoothing to these areas.
- Mask: if selected (white), smoothing is not applied automatically and you can paint over a layer mask and brush. If unchecked (gray), skin smoothing is automatically applied.
- Eyes: when selected, the mask is disabled and shows smooth skin over the entire frame.

Click the create button and the panel will create the necessary layers to effectively smooth the skin to the level you desire. Each layer is editable with mask and opacity settings, but right out of the gate the results are good enough to stay as they are.
As you might have guessed, depending on the initial setting you selected (light, medium, or strong), the resulting layers will have different variables applied to them to achieve the result. The texture of the skin is retained as expected and the difference between the three settings is subtle but clearly visible.
Conclusion
For this edited image, I used three of the Infinite tool palettes to get the result, starting with Infinite Guide, then Infinite Skin, and ending with Infinite Color. Used together, these panels make for quick processing of your portrait images, and while some of them are automated, they still allow for full manual control.
