Dogs are more abused online and justice is never served

Warning: abusive images below.

Dogs are trending online, whether it’s their touching rescue stories or their constantly adorable antics. This seems like a positive trend to support, but what happens when online influencers are protesting their pets for the sake of liking?

Some online influencers are doing anything to get attention, even if it involves hurting their pups in the process. What some online users call a “harmless joke,” is starting to spark outrage.

Videos have emerged of pet owners forcing their animals to eat vodka, biting and punching their pets in hopes of getting a reaction, and even, horribly, throwing their pups in the dryer. . How is it that any of these actions are the actions of a responsible pet owner who cares for their dog? Animal lovers around the world are survivors and want to see justice. But when will it come?

Animal abuse trends
This video shows a cruel pet owner, biting and terrifying his dog for love.

Some of the more famous injustices in the animal kingdom have caught the eye because they don’t obey punishment. One of them was the recent case of YouTuber Brook Houts, where a video emerged of her “accidentally” smashing her Sphinx dog to the ground after repeatedly punching him, and eventually spitting at him. to complete the task.

The video went viral online, infuriating every animal lover in its path. The video has caught the attention of several prominent influencers and animal rights organizations like PETA, demanding all animal abusers be deported from YouTube and facing charges. criminal compulsion. There is even a petition started in honor of Sphinx, in an attempt to ban the online star from YouTube, which was her main source of income at the time. Looks like the battered dog is on his way to getting the justice he deserves.

Brook Hout Abuse
Brook Hout is seen punching his dog, and even spitting at it.

In an official report from the LAPD, Brook Hout’s actions were disturbing, but not illegal. No criminal action will be taken against the YouTube star and the Sphinx will stay at home. Unfortunately, this is just one of many abused animals that will stay in hostile environments.

Another recent one case regarding the story of a Twitch user who allegedly suffocated his dog after losing an online game. The account “krypticelitetv” claims that the abusive video has gone viral, actually showing him helping his dog who is choking on pillows. He asserted that he wasn’t actually choking the dog, but instead, he was pulling the stuff out of his mouth to try to clear the airway.

Live viewers of the video insist that this is not the case at all, and that this is clearly an act of violence and abuse towards the poor dog. The twitch user has since deleted all his social media platforms and has essentially disappeared from the spotlight. It is unclear if he was contacted by law enforcement, or if he will ever face punishment for the senseless act. (You can watch the video here – but be aware it’s unsettling.)

Every day, we are reminded of the unfortunate fact that the best interests of dogs are never the primary priority in the eyes of the law. Even recently, Florida law proposed a bill that would punish any pet owners who abandon their pets during hurricanes or other natural disasters. Even with public support, the law was not passed. This is just one more example of how dogs continue to suffer with no consequences for those who caused it.

We live in a world where kindness and compassion are valued under the chance of gaining likes and online popularity. It’s scary to think that animals will continue to suffer at the hands of people who don’t see them as deserving of equal rights.

It is up to us to continue advocating for our speechless pups and ensuring a swift punishment for those who harm them. Maybe one day our efforts will help make a difference!

UPDATE: Houts recently posted a video to her YouTube channel giving an update on Sphinx’s whereabouts after receiving some questions about where he has been, as he has been absent from the uploads her recent.

“Sphinx is my Doberman that I’ve had since he was a puppy. I certainly made some important mistakes in coaching him when he was young. There were definitely some things I did wrong and that’s clear, I still take full responsibility for it…

“I really believe I cannot give him the time and attention he deserves in that consistent training which is what has led to some behavioral problems…

“There were a lot of obstacles we faced… So we made the very difficult decision to rebuild the Sphinx.”

We could discuss the inconsistencies in her story about the Sphinx last year, (and they’re GLARING) but instead, we’ll choose to celebrate the fact that the Sphinx is no longer in her care. squirrel. We hope he has found a home with a family that will treat him right and help him heal.
