An infuriating story has recently gone viral but has a happy ending!
David Guindon, a resident of San Bernardino, California suffered a heart attack and stroke 6 years ago, leaving him disabled, wheelchair bound and in need of an assistance animal. In 2014, he adopted and bonded with Zeus, a Husky professionally trained to handle the tasks David needed support.
Two years ago, a nurse working at David’s house left the door unlocked, and Zeus wandered out of the house. David hasn’t seen his dog since but has searched frantically, leaving flyers and even hiring a pet detective to track down his missing dog. He adopted and started training a new dog, Zero, to help him, but he didn’t give up hope of finding Zeus.
A year and a half after Zeus went missing, David received a call from Home Again, the company that had registered Zeus’ microchips. David is overjoyed to hear that his dog has been found, but unfortunately, that doesn’t mean he’s coming home. Home Again explains that a woman wants to re-register the microchip in her name and they are asking David’s permission to authorize it. David refused and explained that his dog had not yet surrendered, it was lost and he wanted it back.
