British actor Dev Patel has broken up a fight in which a man was stabbed in the chest, a spokesman has confirmed.

A spokesman for Patel, who stars in Slumdog Millionaire and Lion, told 7NEWS.com.au that he and friends witnessed “a violent scuffle going on outside a convenience store. profit”.

In a statement to the outlet, they said: “Dev acted on his natural instincts to try to de-escalate the situation and break up the fight.

“The team was very successful in doing so and they remained on the scene to make sure that the police and eventually the ambulance arrived.”

The 32-year-old actor was pictured talking to police after Monday night’s stabbing in Adelaide, Australia.

South Australian Police said officers were called around 8:45pm after reports of a man and a woman fighting in the street.

The pair continued to fight inside a nearby service station, where witnesses tried to break up the altercation, before the woman allegedly stabbed the man in the chest.

A 32-year-old man from Glengowrie was treated at the scene by paramedics. He was then taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

A Patel spokesman added: “This particular incident highlights a larger systemic problem that marginalized members of society are not being treated with the dignity and respect they deserve. worth having.
