Auto shows are always a great opportunity for the public and the media to have access to the latest and greatest car models. That said, there are other reasons to visit auto show, namely exhibitions and charity events. Iwona Villaire, administrative director of the International Automotive Components Group (IAC), and other company executives created a stunning dress made of Dinamica, a suede-like microfiber material. It is commonly used by brands like Mercedes-Benz and Audi to wrap car interiors and create accents. Villaire sketches the dress, accented with bright flowers and dark blue color. The skilled craftsmen of IAC Group have made the dress entirely from recycled automotive materials.
In addition to Dinamica, the flowers are also made from cork and laser lamination, the same materials used on interior door panels. Villaire’s jewelry is made from ocean resin and colored resin in a mould, using pre-blend resin in the molding process and allowing the car’s exterior paint to be colorless.
Although IAC Group is presenting the dress as a testament to its sustainable efforts and focus on lowering carbon emissions, fundraising is the main purpose of Charity Preview, often referred to as Detroit’s “car prom”. Like Detroit News note, the event has raised more than $100 million over the past quarter century, with funds going towards children’s charities. The Charity preview 2022 will benefit a number of nonprofit organizations, including the Detroit Automobile Dealers Association Charitable Foundation, the Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Michigan, and the Children’s Foundation.
