Designer Peter Horbury of Volvo, Lotus, Geely, Proton X70 dies at 73; 50 years of automotive design
Famous British designer Peter Horbury passed away at the age of 73 while on a business trip to Geely headquarters in China. Best known for his work at Volvo, Horbury began his design career at Chrysler UK after graduating from the Royal College of Art in 1974.
Horbury’s stint at Volvo as design director began in 1991 and spanned 11 years, and during this time he will lead the Swedish car brand away from figurative designs. box before, enter a new design era with Revolution theme.
Horbury’s arrival at Volvo brought about a design change that was evident during the transition from the Volvo 850 to the first-generation Volvo S60, and is also credited for crossovers like the V70 XC. the first system as well XC90along with other styles like C70 and C30 hatchback.

In 2021, Stefan Sielaff succeeded Horbury as Vice President of Global Design at Geely Auto Group, and Horbury went on to become senior vice president of design at Group Lotus, also under Geely.
