Demetrius Andrade: “54 Charlo You Pop Mad Shit, Come Up Here To The 160 Pound Weight Class”
By: Hans Themistode
For years, Demetrius Andrade has been urging Jermall Charlo to take on him in the ring. With Houston’s Charlo holding the WBC middleweight belt and Rhode Island’s Andrade holding on to the WBO championship, the multi-division player will want nothing more than to unify the titles. However, despite his public invitation, the two failed to come to an agreement on a possible showdown.
However, while the match against Jermall did not look like it was going to be, Andrade has now turned his attention to his twin, Jermell.
Andrade told several reporters: “I want to fight Charlo’s brother first. “54 Charlo, you’re mad. Why don’t you come up here in the 160-pound weight class and try to be a two-division world champion. I have it, I have it. ”
At one point, when both Jermell and Andrade were campaigning for the £154 division, both were officially over. However, due to team Andrade’s last-minute financial complaints, their competition was ultimately cancelled.
However, even if Andrade hopes to rekindle their rivalry, both men have work to do. In Charlo’s case, the unified middleweight player will face WBO champion Brian Castano on February 26, in Houston, Texas. The two initially fought in a controversial split decision draw on July 17. If Charlo leaves their match successfully, he will become the first undisputed world champion. division’s first since Winky Wright nearly two decades ago.
As for Andrade, the 33-year-old was recently ordered to defend his crown against Zhanibek Alimkhanuly. The Ukrainian star marked his mandatory title with an injury-time win in the round of 16 against Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam on 20 November.
