Updated for a long enough time, the games all seem to become the same – at least structurally. Deep Rock Galactic got its biggest update ever last week, for example, adding a battle with 100 levels to advance and new items and cosmetics to unlock.
At least one change: passing the battle is 100% free and there is a new robot battle mode also included in the update.

The new mode is called Industrial Sabotage and it features a group of rival robots moving across your field. Your goal is to dig deep into the asteroid and find the robot’s data store, steal the information inside it, and run away. To do that, you’ll first have to shut down the two power stations that are powering the vault’s force field and fight The Caretaker, a large pyramid-shaped guardian bot.
There are new tools to help you do all of this, including four new primary weapons, one for each weapon type. The gunner receives “Hurricane”, a mini rocket launcher; Scout receives a plasma rifle that can overheat; Engineers get a smart rifle that can lock enemies into rounded corners; and the Driller receives a mud pump, which shoots corrosive green puddles at enemies. I’m definitely a Driller.
Players also get a new handheld hacking device that you can use on enemy robots to switch them to your own faction.
Performance Pass is the name of Deep Rock in free battle. It works the way these always do: there are 100 levels, you level up by playing, completing quests or seasonal challenges and you unlock items or points you can use for items is different. There’s a bunch of new cosmetics to unlock, including new beards.
Once the season is over, it seems you can still get season one’s items in a different way, but exactly how will be revealed later.
