Super-middleweight Jose Uzcategui 34-2 faces Vladimir Shishkin 13-0 on undercard Michel Rivera-Frank Marin on Saturday night at Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. The match was title elimination and was scheduled for 12 innings. Uzcategui landed well in the first minute of the opening half. Shiskin made his stab throughout the show while Uzcategui continued the hunt.
The second round was fast-paced, although it was clear that Uzcategui was the more difficult of the two men. However, towards the end of the round, Uzcategui became less aggressive. The third season sees Shishkin come to life, destroying his men with a blow or two throughout the show. The fourth round was packed with action, with both men trading each other strong shots.
Things still ended in the fifth inning, although it looked like Uzcategui’s shots might have started to harm his man. Each boxer had his moments in the sixth round, though Shishkin couldn’t seem to get over his veteran opponent’s aggressive play, moves and attacks. The credit must go to Shishkin in the seventh part, because he simply did not allow himself to be swayed by the weight of Uzcategui’s ferocity.
Uzcategui landed clean and hard in the eighth round, but Shishkin’ punches found their target in impressive style. Both men engaged in sharp shooting in season nine in what became and extremely high octane. Uzcategui’s pressure prompted a tenth goal, although Shishkin certainly made some good shots. However, Uzcategui continued to pressurize in the eleventh minute.
The twelfth and final round saw both men swing and land as they did throughout the entire recreation. In the end, it was Shishkin who went away with a decisive unanimous victory.
