DaVinci Resolve Coming to Your iPad

Today, Blackmagic Design announced that their outstanding post-production platform, DaVinci Resolve, will now be available on Apple ipad.

As someone who both has an iPad Pro and uses DaVinci Resolve as both my primary editing software and color grader, this is good news. Blackmagic Design announced that the mobile version will be optimized for MultiTouch technology and Apple Pencil. DaVinci Resolve for iPad provides support for crop and color pages, and is capable of handling HDR workflows with compatible systems. It integrates with the recently announced Blackmagic Cloud option, enabling remote collaboration around the world.

I haven’t gotten my hands on the app yet. But I would love to see how the product will add to my workflow. I also wanted to see how well my old iPad Pro could handle the workload, which was previously the only domain of my desktop. Blackmagic Design claims that the application will be able to open the same project files as compatible with the desktop version. It will be able to work with file formats including H.264, H.265, Apple ProRes, as well as Blackmagic RAW. Clips can reside on the iPad’s internal storage or be imported from an iCloud or USB-C drive.

The product will launch on the app store in Q4 of this year.

So what do you think? For my DaVinci Resolve users out there, does being able to access your workflow on a mobile device help expand your workflow on the go?
