Amazon has it for just £55, which is a huge change for a mobo that is compatible with both AMD Ryzen 3000 chips and the latest Ryzen 5000 series. That’s down from its £73 price tag on Black Friday and down from £100 RRP.

String 5000 contains a number Best CPU for gaming around, and this motherboard’s B550 chipset ensures full compatibility with features like overclocking and PCIe 4.0 support.

Surely at this price, the B550M DS3H won’t do everything. For a relatively basic, rear I/O panel, there’s no USB-C port or higher-end audio output. It also lacks built-in Wi-Fi and the fact that the microATX form factor rules out having as many PCIe slots as a powerful ATX mobo. However, this compactness also allows it to be suitable for smaller cases.

Besides, it’s not like the B550M DS3H only covers the absolute basics. You’ll still get two M.2 slots for faster NVMe storage, four full RAM slots, and again, PCIe 4.0 ready. That alone gives it a respectable level of protection going forward, and there are already plenty of great 4.0 SSDs you can buy today.

One of the major limitations to the latest version of Intel Lake Alder 12th generation chips are due to their lack of affordable motherboards. Conversely, if you picked up a current-gen Ryzen CPU during the Black Friday season, you’ve got a potential cheap counterpart to it right here.
