Cris Collinsworth Is Reportedly Negotiating A $12.5 Million Per Year Deal To Stay ‘SNF’ With NBC



NBC “Sunday Night Football” analyst Cris Collinsworth is in talks to land a new contract that could pay as much as $12.5 million annually through 2025. So it looks like the notoriety slide of he’s still here.

The 62-year-old former Cincinnati Bengal is in his 13th season as a color analyst for the weekly prime-time NFL game, working alongside Al Michaels. However, Michaels is expected to leave NBC after this season to join Amazon Prime. Collinsworth is expected to stay at NBC, instead working with Mike Tirico, who occasionally fills in Michaels on the broadcast.

Collinsworth’s new contract, Reported by Andrew Marchand of the NY Post, which will run until 2025. NBC is said to be “in deep negotiations” with Collinsworth about the deal.

The news quells rumors that Collinsworth may be joining Amazon Prime alongside his “Sunday Night Football” broadcaster. It’s not yet official if Michaels will be there or not. There’s also no official lead on hiring an analyst for Amazon’s broadcasts.

Amazon Prime will take over the rights to “Thursday Night Football” next year after partnering with NBC Sports. The games will not be broadcast on NBC, but the NBC broadcast will be streamed on Amazon Prime instead. Currently, Fox owns the broadcasting rights to “Saturday Night Football” with Joe Buck and Troy Aikman.

Since NBC hired Drew Brees in March 2021, there has been speculation that NBC may be preparing for Brees to eventually take over Collinsworth as color analyst. However, with this contract news, this transition could be delayed for several more years.

Currently, former Cowboys defender Tony Romo has the biggest sports broadcasting deal in history with CBS. Romo’s contract is a $180 million 10-year contract and it sets a very high bar for future sports broadcasters.

Super Bowl LVI in 2022 will mark Collinsworth’s fifth Super Bowl broadcast. The next Super Bowl that NBC will air will be in 2025, which will be the final year of his new contract.
