Create powerful prints from a unique camera

Before the digital era, you could still take panoramic photos, but in general you have to use a special type of camera to do that, especially if you want the best image quality possible. This neat video follows a landscape photographer as he uses a giant camera to create an exceptional panoramic print.

Coming to you from Thomas Heaton, this cool video follows him as he creates a panoramic print using the Fujifilm Panorama GX617. So named for the 6x17cm format that produces an almost 1:3 aspect ratio, this exceptional camera produces large negatives produced by one of the four lenses that come with specialized viewfinders. respective applications: 90mm f/5.6, 105mm f/8, 180mm f/6.7 or 300mm f/8. Each of these four lenses comes with individual controls for shutter, focus, aperture shutter speed and shutter speed, providing exposure times from 1 second to 1/500 second, although a cable release can extend these. The camera uses 120 or 220 film, which produces four or eight exposures per roll, respectively. And cameras don’t lose value over time; in fact, used copies still cost around $5,000 today. This is a rather unique piece of history; check out the video above to see it in action.
