Create a Michael Bay Level Rig in the Back Garden

It seems like every year we see more and more crazier sets, often reserved for high-end cinematic productions, made available to the average person. In this video you can see a silly fun orbit shot done in the back garden.

There was a time, not so long ago, when the gimbal was almost the pinnacle of cinematography and was seen almost exclusively on set. Now, almost every videographer or content creator has at least one for every camera, including their phone. Such is the familiar trajectory of technology: when it first launched, it was proprietary and expensive, but over time it became accessible and affordable. Still, I’m still amazed at what can be done these days in your own back garden.

In this video, DO. ART. CURRENTLY. set up an orbit shot in his garden with a telephoto lens to create shots you normally only see in cinematography. In fact, this shot is very difficult to stabilize and hit, you won’t see this often in high-end productions either. There are some shots in this video that are truly excellent, including footage of the drone that could easily have become an advertisement for it.

What elements do you think are only for big-budget studios that will reach consumers in the near future?
