A woman in the Woodland Hills section of Los Angeles accidentally played another dog mom this week when a wild coyote extended her 6-meter-long privacy fence and entered her home through doggy door. Julie Levine runs a nonprofit called Canine Rescue Connection, which works for the Beagles.
The wolf was caught by the Levine’s Ring camera breaking into the house in the middle of the night while she and the dogs were sleeping.
“The dogs go crazy, and then I say this has happened before with a mouse, what else can happen out there now?” Levine said.

Fortunately, the coyote was already on the run by the time the dogs woke up and caught its scent, so there was no physical confrontation. It was until Levine checked her camera to see if there was any fuss about her realizing what had happened.
“I think he could have gone down the hallway, seen what he was up against, and probably slipped out of there,” Levine said. “Then when the dogs realized that they caught the scent, because they were eagles, they had amazing noses, and went crazy, and that’s why I decided to look at them. into the security camera to see what was going on, and it turned out, it was a very large coyote. “
In total, the predator remained in her house for about three minutes. The incident comes just days after a coyote attacked another family’s dog in the same neighborhood.
“The son found it when it happened and pulled the dog out of its mouth,” Levine said.

Coyotes entering homes are virtually unheard of, but they are known to injure and even kill small pets found outdoors. While they rarely attack humans, their habitat and food sources continue to decline, causing Predators like coyotes and mountain lions are more desperate than ever. A coyote attacked a child at Huntington Beach Pier in April, injuring her in the face.
“They’re definitely brazen, I mean coming inside the house like they belong there… We know they can widen the fence, but we don’t think they’ll get through the dog door and into the house on their own, ‘ Levine said.
Levine has since been up her doggy door. She hopes this incident serves as a warning to other pet parents in Los Angeles.
“They’re bold, they’re smart, they’re looking for food, they’re looking for water and they might just bring some friends back next time,” she says.
