Country House Filly, Vekoma Colt Top Under Tack Show


ONE Vekoma colt (Hip 4) and foal (Hip 61) of House in the countryside completed the work fastest at one-eighth of a mile in :10 in the June 24 running show for the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic June 2-Year-Old Promotion.

Tie three hips for fastest quarter mile in :21 4/5. All consigned by Wes Carter, they include one Tiz Law filly (Hip 16), a gelding by central bank employee (Hip 56) and one solomini gelding (Hip 58). Hips 56 and 58 are being sold by Carter on behalf of Crossed Sabers Farm, while Hip 16 is being offered by Lemon Creek Farm.

The underhand show was held at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium before the June 25 sale of 80 yearlings. So far, 11 have been recalled. The sale begins at 2 p.m. ET.

Hip 56 is a race by Artillery Punch, winner of Kitten’s Joy, who has produced two winners from four races so far. Hip 58 is out of the winning mare Tapit Amber Ash, a half-sister to the Grade 1 winner pampered princess (Charlie India).

Midlantic’s June sale, which Fasig-Tipton added to its calendar last year, is the last US 2-year-old training sale of the year. Last year’s first sale sold 59 horses for a total value of $2,541,000. The overall average is $43,068.
