Tuesday night was the night of the funeral, when Doug Emhoff, second gentleman and the first Jew to marry a US president or vice president, spoke at Congregation Adas Israel in Washington DC.
Emhoff was one of more than a thousand people who attended a vigil dedicated to the six hostages killed by Hamas, whose bodies were found over the weekend.
The deaths of the six hostages come more than 300 days after Hamas took more than 240 people hostage after attacking Israel on October 7. As the days of captivity drag on, more have died and their families are left in anguish.
One of those family members is LeElle Slifer, whose cousin Carmel Gat was one of the six hostages killed. She shares what her cousin meant to her and what her family wants from the Israeli government.
