Cody Crowley Upsets Kudratillo Abdukakhorov
By: Sean Crose
Unbeaten 18-0 Kudratillo Abdukakhorov appeared on the Showtime card Saturday as he faced Cody Crowley 19-0 in the scheduled 10th round. Crowley pressured from the start. In the second season, Crowley really rocked his men, surprising those who thought it would be Abdukakhorov’s night. However, Abdukakhorov proved it could still be his night, as he beat Crowley later in the round. Crowley was able to get up and survive the chapter.
The third saw Crowley continue to fight actively. Both men trained their bodies hard in the fourth round. Crowley continued to use his height and aggression into the fifth round – although Abdukakhorov was certainly able to land himself. The boxers cut each other in the sixth round. Despite defeating his elder in the second round, Abdukakhorov appeared before the less powerful fighter in the seventh round. In fact, he started to appear to be in pain when the bracelet was put on.
Crowley’s stab is impressive in season eight, as it has been throughout the fight. It was an interesting match, but Crowley seemed to dominate most of the time. Undoubtedly, Abdukakhorov was defeated in ninth place. By the 10th minute, it was clear that Crowley really, REALLY wanted to win. He continued in a nonstop fashion, always moving towards his man, always in attack mode behind a straight southward dash.
Needless to say, the judges gave Crowley a well-deserved win.
