Arlisha Boykins Plays with a 13-year-old boy during a match
According to WAVY-TV, the strange situation involved Arlisha Boykins – JV basketball coach at Churchland High School – and it happened during a game on January 21, according to WAVY-TV.
It turned out that a 13-year-old student-athlete was unable to attend the match held at Nansemond River High School in Suffolk. As a result, Arlisha seems to have stepped up and into the game herself.
After the gig was reported to school officials, Arlisha was fired from her position. In addition, the school’s basketball coach was also fired because the employee was accused of “encouraging such behaviour”.
We should add that it’s not entirely clear how Arlisha got caught up.
Student’s family demands apology: ‘I’m just shocked’
After the news broke, the impersonated child’s father spoke out about the matter and shared that he couldn’t believe a coach would go this far.
“The coaches were always lecturing the kids about integrity and things like that, so I was shocked.”
He went on to note that, while he acknowledged that action was taken against Arlisha Boykins, the family is awaiting an apology from the school.
“I just need an apology because I still haven’t received an apology from the show supervisor or nothing…No apology has been made to us personally.”
In addition, he shared that the family has decided to send their daughter to another high school next year.

After the coach was fired, the administration met with parents and student-athletes to discuss the situation.
In the end, it was decided that, in the face of a major scandal, simply canceling the current JV and varsity season would be the best decision.
