Last week, Chrysler teases a new performance model will be announced on the eve of Detroit Auto Show. The day has come, and Chrysler remains tight-lipped about what it’s intended to show, but based on the specs in the trailer (and Chrysler’s compact lineup), we have a pretty good idea of what we can see tonight.
Chrysler’s teaser includes a photo of wheels from the 300 sedan, which not too long ago was offered in an SRT variant. These large red, alloy rear Brembo brake calipers hint that we may be looking at a revival of the old SRT formula, possibly a combination of the 6.4-liter Hemi V8 and the box eight-speed automatic – an unmatched pairing. offered on the old SRT model.
While this is certainly not definitive, Chrysler says the new variant will be “one of the most powerful and luxurious special edition vehicles” in the brand’s history. This 300-generation SRT model left the market in 2015 with 470 hp. Other models with a capacity of 6.4 liters offer as much as the 485, so there will be space here for a new model if Stellantis is so inclined.
