Toyota establishes BEV Factory, a new organization that will accelerate the development and sales of electric vehicles
Declared intention to introduce 10 brand new electric car models by 2026Toyota has now announced that it is restructuring aspects of its battery-electric business to speed things up even more.
The company said it would abolish the current ZEV (zero emission vehicle) equipped and founded the BEV Factory, a new, dedicated organization that will accelerate its electric vehicle development and sales. The new apparel will be run by a single leader, so that development, production, and sales are all in one location, accelerating decision-making and execution.
With the BEV Factory, the automaker is aiming to accelerate rapid growth through a cross-functional organizational structure that operates in tandem with multiple headquarters abroad (such as in the US, China and Europe) to understand customer needs and market trends in major BEV markets.
The new division will also work closely with mobility technology subsidiary Woven by Toyota to develop and incorporate the latest smart technologies into its products, and together with key suppliers of themselves, seeking new production methods using the latest technologies and methods.
The automaker added that it will accelerate cooperation with new partners and accept the challenge of BEV production “creating a whole new worldview”.
