The IRS is suing Chris Tucker, claiming he owes them $9 million all the way back to 2002.
In a complaint filed in Nevada federal court obtained by USA TODAY, they say he owes federal taxes, tax penalties and interest from 2002, 2006, 2008 and 2010 amounting to $9.6 million.
“Despite the notice and demand for payment of the above-mentioned reviews, Mr. Tucker ignored, refused, or failed to fully pay for the reviews against him,” the document states.
He owed them $481,000 in 2010 to $4.6 million in 2002. His total was $9,684,452.07. Tucker made several installment agreements in 2010, 2011 and 2016 to repay the IRS in lump sums over a 10-year period. He failed to keep up with his payments.
He recently explained why he’s not starring in any of the Friday sequels.
“I said ‘the man the movie became a phenomenon (but) I don’t want people smoking weed,'” he said. “I didn’t want to represent everyone smoking weed, I made it more personal than a movie.”
