Chisora decides Pulev in abrasive work
By: Sean Crose
The first time these two veteran heavyweights met was in 2016. Kubrat Pulev won that battle thanks to a decisive nod by the referees. Now, six years later, Chisora has literally raised the bar by receiving a decisive nod from the judges over Pulev on Saturday. Their 12th round rematch is held on Saturday at the O2 Arena in London – the home ground of England player Chisora. The battle was over, however, very close. While neither boxer was in his prime, 29-2 Pulev and 32-12 Chisora put on a performance of mutual attrition. No fan should waste time and money watching this movie.
Chisora is shown to be strong and aggressive, lunging at herself as if letting Pulev know that this won’t be their first rematch. Pulev, however, was able to get into his trench, using his strength and a powerful jab to keep his veteran teammate in the ring. As the fight progresses it becomes a war of attrition, with each man firing his gun and having his moments. This wasn’t Hagler-Hearns…again, it was two men past their prime, but they poured all their strength and energy as they took off one after another. Pulev seems to ground more while Chisora seems to ground better.
The fighters are currently tied 1-1 in battle with each other. The third match could be overrated, but how much more grueling must these two games have to be before things get pretty dangerous?
