Chery Omoda 7 – C-segment SUV revealed before its launch in Beijing on April 28, is Tiggo 7 Pro more stylish?
When Chery introduced the Omoda sub-brand, it affirmed its presence not only Omoda 5 but also the upcoming Omoda 7 and Omoda 9. Now the company has released the teaser of its first derivative, the Omoda 7, which will be fully launched at Auto China in Beijing next week, April 28.
By its name, the car is obviously one size larger than the Omoda 5, and while the design of the latter approximates that of the Omoda 5. Nissan Ariya, Omoda 7 has a much more mature appearance. Of course, the family’s signature touches are still visible, namely the clamshell bonnet, upward-swept window line, glazed D-pillars and contrasting black roof.
Elsewhere, you’ll find sharp headlights, wraparound taillights and flush-pull door handles similar to the BMW iX1‘S. You also get a hexagonal grille as well as interesting graphics on the bumper corners, which glow at the edges.
Expect the Omoda 7 to hit global markets next year as a more stylish alternative to Tiggo 7 Pro, likely to be equipped with a similar multi-link rear suspension (the Omoda 5 uses a torsion beam), a 197 kW/290 Nm 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a clutch transmission seven-level wet dual. However, we doubt it will be sold here as the Tiggo 7 Pro and Jaecoo J7 would leave very little room for it to exist. Instead, Chery Malaysia will push forward with the larger Jaecoo J8 and Omoda 9.
