Mark Cuba can be entertained by chatbots like ChatGPT powered by Microsoft and Google’s upcoming Bard — but he’s not ready to trust them yet.

“Once these things start taking on lives of their own… we have a hard time determining why and how the machine makes the decisions it makes, and who runs the machine,” Cuban said.
Hundreds of millions of users have tried ChatGPT to write poetry, give advice, and recite recipes since the platform launched in November. But so far, the technology doesn’t show it. smarter than the average person.

“Our generation, Gen X and up, doesn’t understand that,” Cuban said. “Generation Z and below, they’re not only familiar with it, but they know how to stop things… They’re more in tune with all these issues.”
For its part, Microsoft admits that the technology behind ChatGPT isn’t perfect — even if it plans to incorporate it into an upcoming version of its Bing search engine.
“Bing will sometimes misrepresent the information it finds, and you may find answers that sound convincing but are incomplete, inaccurate, or inappropriate,” the company said in a recent update. FAQ page speak.
In the short term, that could be a problem — a concern Cuba shares with fellow tech billionaires Steve Wozniak. But other industry celebrities have expressed excitement about the technology’s long-term possibilities.
