Challenge: Smart Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to care for worker health and security
QRDI and Milaha are driving innovation within Qatar to reshape Qatar’s logistics system by targeting specific innovation challenges.
Milaha invites proposals from startups, SMEs and enterprises on the technologies that provide Personal protective equipment for harsh environments with intelligent monitoring features. Milaha is looking for innovative solutions to address the growing need for real-time monitoring of worker health and safety, combined with cooling features to improve thermal comfort. of workers.
Environmental conditions in Qatar can be stressful for people working outdoors, as daily temperatures can rise to 52°C with 90% humidity. Health & Safety processes require work to be halted when conditions become too severe, thereby reducing overall productivity. Another risk to worker safety is inadvertent access to confined areas where machinery or operations could be hazardous.
Milaha cares about the health and safety of its workers and wants to develop smart personal protective equipment (PPE) to:
- reduce environmental risks, such as dehydration and heat stroke, by real-time monitoring of worker metrics to make recommendations or intervene abruptly when needed.
- prevent workers from accessing hazardous restricted areas with real-time localization and geo-fencing. Collected data about workers’ locations will also help automate administrative procedures, allowing for easier counting of workers’ time on a given job.
- Increase worker thermal comfort by using active or passive cooling features. PPE currently in use are Jackets, helmets and boots.
Submissions for this Challenge must be received by September 13, 2022.
