Car crashes into stationary vehicle on Kerinchi Link Road, bicycle crashes into car, driver luckily escapes death

Malang has no berbauThere is a Malay proverb that says so, and indeed, this is true on the roads, where things can go wrong very suddenly with little or no warning. Such was the case earlier today on Kerinchi Link, when a motorcyclist narrowly escaped death in an accident, through no fault of his own.

In a video clip from a dash cam posted on XThe car can be seen moving on the link road, heading towards PJ/Hartamas. Everything seemed fine, until a Perodua moving slowly in the inner lane crashed into what appeared to be a stationary car in the lane, another Perodua. Slow to react to the obstacle, the moving car clipped the right rear of the stationary car, and the force was strong enough to flip the moving car sideways and into the middle lane.

In the second act, a motorcyclist is following a moving car. The driver, noticing the slower car ahead, moves into the middle lane at the point of collision, and then sees an immovable object. Hitting the exposed undercarriage of the hit car at an angle, the bike and rider bounce off the fast lane, their progress halted by the retaining wall.

At this point, a Honda City, traveling in the fast third lane, came barreling straight at the missiles that were the bike and the rider, and luckily he steered and avoided hitting the motorcyclist. Luck, sure, but reaction time is everything. Meanwhile, the camera car had spectacularly avoided the overturned car, the car straightened out in front to have the narrowest possible shape, making it easier to avoid.

It was a bad scene, but it could have been much, much worse, given how it happened. It is not known why the car that started the chain of events was stopped (or barely moving) in the slow lane. Roads like Kerinchi do not have an emergency lane for drifting vehicles, so the problem would have been compounded if a vehicle had been faulty or broken down. However, the most important thing is to pay attention to what is in front of you, as it could make all the difference. Stay safe, everyone.
