Canon launches EOS R6 Mark II

Canon has announced its enthusiast-grade full-frame EOS R6 tracker — unsurprisingly named it EOS R6 Mark II. Heading spec is a new, higher resolution 24.2MP sensor that, when combined with the DIGIC X image processor and Dual Pixel CMOS AF II can shoot up to 40 fps with the display. electronic shutter (interestingly though not stacked or backlit the design). Continuous shooting at up to 12 fps is possible with the mechanical shutter.

Canon also claims a big step forward in AF performance, with a new system that builds on the intelligence found in the EOS R3 and uses up-to-date deep learning technology to detect people, animals, vehicles, horses, ships. fire and aircraft with high precision. A newly added AI chip, not just a software update, takes care of these tasks.

The body has also undergone some significant changes — something that annoys owners of the R6’s underwater housing — with a new switch to toggle between stills and video modes in the same location. on/off switch ever used. The power switch moves to the right side of the camera. The general arrangement of the buttons and dials on the back of the camera has remained largely unchanged.

In terms of video, the Mark II can now shoot 4K video that’s oversampled from 6K at up to 60fps using the full width of the sensor—as opposed to the Mark I’s small cropping. — this will result in buttery smooth high quality- slow motion playback speed. According to Canon, 4K/60p 10-bit 4:2:2 continuous recording is possible for up to at least 40 minutes, with “unlimited” recording capabilities at 4K/30p. The R6 Mark II can output 6K RAW video via HDMI to an external recorder.

Other features include a pre-recorded RAW continuous shooting mode, which records for a few seconds while autofocus is held on the subject until the shutter button is pressed; flash sync speed up to 1/200 sec with mechanical shutter and 1/250 sec with electronic shutter; and the same in-body image stabilization is capable of up to eight stops of compensation.

Available at the end of November from retailers like Backscatter, the EOS R6 Mark II will have a body-only price of $2,500 — the same as the Mark I.
