While promoting his new adult beverage, VMC, Canelo Alvarez was asked about – you guessed it – boxing. The red-haired star made it clear that his recent surgery on his wrist went well and that he hopes to be back in the ring in the first half of 2023. “My plan is to be back in May. ,” he said, through FightHype. “I will start splashing money in January and see how it feels.” If all goes well, Canelo then wants to take on WBA light heavyweight boxer Dmitry Bivol, who beat him last spring in Las Vegas.

“I’ll be back in May for a prep match, just to see how the game feels,” he said, “and then a rematch against Bivol in December.” Canelo was last seen in the ring when he defeated arch rival Gennady Golovkin in September. With that being said, some are wondering if the biggest star in the sport of boxing hasn’t been. starting to slip a bit from his peak as perhaps the best weightlifter on earth or not. Still, Canelo is determined. “It’s the only thing I want right now in my career,” he said of the second game against Bivol.

However, Bivol is not the only rival of Canelo that the media is curious about. As for Canelo, it was also asked if he would rematch super-middleweight Caleb Plant after knocking out the American in a super-middleweight title fight last year. “Let’s see what happens in that game,” Canelo said, referring to Plant’s upcoming game against David Benavidez. “Honestly, it’s a competitive fight, but for me, I think Benavidez will win.”

Canelo continues to talk about the small role he has in the upcoming movie Creed 3, as well as his love for the game of golf. However, the famous boxer also mentioned the work he does for people in need. “Through social media (media), I get messages from people to help them,” he said. “I got in the car to take a look and told my cousin Omar to go find out if it was legal and that’s how it happened. It happened like that.”

For his new drink, VMC stands for “Viva Mexican Cabrones,” which is what Canelo likes to scream in the ring after his victory. If he makes a successful comeback next year, fans will likely hear him utter those words more than once.
