California Horsepower Alliance Funds Economic Research

California Horse Power Coalition (CHPC), a growing partnership of Thoroughbred societies, organizations representing workers and riders, animal health advocates, etc., today today announced the coalition’s commitment to fund the groundbreaking report in California as part of the American Horse Council’s California Economic Impact Study.

Josh Rubinstein, President of the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club and member of the American Equestrian Council, said: “The American Horse Council consistently produces the most comprehensive national economic impact studies showing benefits. the tremendous amount that horse farming has brought to communities across the country. “As our industry continues to grow, we believe the results will underscore our industry’s commitment to boosting California’s economy, expanding the travel and tourism industry, and creating a Time for friends and family to come together to create unforgettable shared experiences.”

Economic impact studies by the American Horse Council look at industry contributions to national as well as state-by-state GDP, including employment, volunteers, population equivalents, acreage, etc. Categories are also broken down by sector: leisure, racing, competition and working horses.

“CHPC’s mission is to preserve and protect California’s vibrant equestrian culture. Funding the economic impact study affirms the alliance’s commitment to not only uplift the equestrian industry, but to encourage it as well. Stakeholders, large and small, use their voices to advance their mutual interests,” said Bill Nader, President and CEO of Thoroughbred Owners of California. “Finally, if you benefit from the equine industry in any capacity, I encourage you to fill out the following survey links so your voice can be heard.”
