Cadillac Unveils New ‘Opulent Velocity’ High-Performance Electric Vehicle

DETROIT — Automobile Corporation on Friday unveiled a new all-electric Cadillac concept car designed to preview how the automaker plans to keep its high-performance V-Series line relevant with electric vehicles.

The car is called the “Opulent Velocity.” As the name suggests, Cadillac says it’s a balance of luxury and performance from the V-Series, which is known for its high-performance engines like the 6.2-liter Blackwing V8 engineRated at over 600 horsepower and pound feet of torque.

“What we really wanted to achieve was the best of both worlds. It was the ultimate high-performance machine of the future, combined with the ultimate luxury,” Bryan Nesbitt, Cadillac’s global design director, said in a press release.

Electric vehicles can deliver solid performance when it comes to acceleration, such as 0-60 mph times of three seconds or less, but automakers still face challenges in how to differentiate their vehicles and create similar vehicles. the excitement that the sound, or “roar”, of a traditional performance car.

The concept car is a sleek, futuristic sports car. It has “scissor” doors that rotate vertically on a fixed hinge at the front of the door. It was revealed in connection with Monterey Car Week and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance car show in California.
