Freshman stallion Bodexpress selected the first winner when Her blind side graduated and debuted on June 22 at Emerald.
Her Blind Side, a 2-year-old filly bred in California by Richard Barton Enterprises & Robert Traynor, prevailed thanks to a 4 1/2 furlong daughter’s neck. She crossed the wire in a final time of :53.17 on a fast track under jockey Alex Cruz.
Candice Cryderman trains her Blind Side for John Parker, who purchased the filly for $6,500 as a yearling at the Breeders Association’s Junior and Racehorse Sales California Thoroughbred 2023. She is offered for sale by consignment by her co-breeder, Barton Thoroughbreds.
Her Blind Side is the second winner produced by her dam, Graeme Hall mare Holograeme.
Bodexpress scored the biggest win of his career in the 2020 Clark Stakes (G1) at Churchill Downs. The son of Bodemeister was also runner-up in the 2019 Florida Derby (G1) for owner Top Racing, Global Thoroughbred, GDS Racing Stable and trainer Gustavo Delgado. He retired with a record of 4-4-3 after 17 starts and earnings of $694,600.
Bodexpress began stud in 2021 at Barton Thoroughbreds in California before moving to Pleasant Acres Stallions in Morriston, Fla., last fall. Males of the first crop can withstand the 2024 breeding season for a fee of $3,500.
